The reasons behind a teen's suicide or attempted suicide can be complex. Although suicide is relatively rare among children, the rate of suicides and suicide attempts increases tremendously during adolescence.

Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), after accidents and homicide. It's also thought that at least 25 attempts are made for every completed teen suicide.

The risk of suicide increases dramatically when kids and teens have access to firearms at home, and nearly 60% of all suicides in the United States are committed with a gun. That's why any gun in your home should be unloaded, locked, and kept out of the reach of children and teens.

Overdose using over-the-counter, prescription, and non-prescription medicine is also a very common method for both attempting and completing suicide. It's important to monitor carefully all medications in your home. Also be aware that teens will "trade" different prescription medications at school and carry them (or store them) in their locker or backpack.

Suicide rates differ between boys and girls. Girls think about and attempt suicide about twice as often as boys, and tend to attempt suicide by overdosing on drugs or cutting themselves. Yet boys die by suicide about four times as often girls, perhaps because they tend to use more lethal methods, such as firearms, hanging, or jumping from heights,

For the Bullies

You may judge because you think they're ugly or fat. But everyone has something beautiful about them. And in most cases the bully is mean because of jelousy. Maybe the person you bully's parents are together and yours aren't, sometimes you wish you were more like them, others might have things you do'nt so you take your anger out on people like Amanda Todd. You may belive that saying these things are funny but they're not. You lower someones confidence and that can cange your life and theres. For example after Amanda Todd commited suicide because of bullying, all the bullies were tracked down and had  to go to court to decide what would happen. Now they are on provision (for a year) meaning they are being watched over all the time and have to do 100 hours of comunity service. Did you know that usually your the friendless one? Not the person you torment everyday. In fact usually your friends just hang out with you because they rather see someone else gettin hurt then themselve. If you are a bully think again, would you really want to be the reason for someone's death?

For the ones being bullied

You can't let anyone put you down whether its a friend, parent or just the mean kids at school. Everyone has things they don't like about themselves and that includes the bully. Beauty is only skin deep. If you have suicidal thoughts then don't think about yourself how about your family? What would your mom feel if she found you laying dead on the floor of your room?
